For the last two decades, the Mangalui Ndulu has chartered guests around Western and Northern Sumatra, searching for the ultimate Sumatran wave.
Mangalui Ndulu means "wave searcher" in the local Nias language; she's a magnificent 84ft timber sloop built by surfers solely for pursuing waves. She's powered by a Nissan Diesel V8 270hp, and supported by a tender, The Foxy Lady. She's a 7.3m aluminium speedboat that can hit speeds of 35 knots, and is the perfect wave searching side kick.
The experienced captains, Matt Cruden and Glen Brumley, can customise your surf trip, incorporating breaks from the bottom of the Mentawai's through to the top of the Banyaks; trips are generally 11-14 days in length. The captains and their crew of 6 use their extensive local knowledge to provide guests with maximum surf time, on world-class breaks with minimum crowds. Breaks like Macaronis, Treasure Island and Pasti are at your door stop.
The Mangalui Ndulu accommodates 8-10 guests in air-conditioned dorm style accommodation. She has a saloon and upper deck for chilling in-between surf sessions.
Meals are a delicious combination of Indonesian and Western cuisine; they're generous and healthy to ensure that you keep energised for your surf sessions. Refreshments, including ice cold beers, and snacks are also provided.
Snorkelling, fishing and spear fishing gear is also available.
